SCRAMBLE FOR THE BOSS`S SEAT
Where were
you when they left?
They took
off very early this morning
Massa, Madam
and the children: Harry and Dickson
They left as
our indepenendence was proclaimed yesterday
And they
handed power to our people.
Which of our
brothers will live in this big house
They left
behind?
Is it Atu
our only agric engineer?
But I see
the Agric Assistant (AA) is already moving in
I asked if I
could continue to be his yardboy
He said he
would think about it.
He has told
Pa Bobe that he can stay on as his cook
To serve him
as he served the Whiteman.
The
nightwatchman is on leave and does not know what is happening.
The problem
is that too many people believe they will succeed Massa
And become
the big boss over everyone else on this Farm
But who will
it be?
Oh, the
Black man is black outside and black inside!
The
government, the new government, has
appointed no one yet
Even so, Mr.
Gregory has already occupied Mr. Morgan`s sumptuous office
He claims
it`s his right because he was his direct assistant
And then
there is Mr Akungwa trying to start Massa`s official Land Rover
The Whiteman
left it behind; perhaps it was too
combersome
To carry all
the way to London.
Oh I wish he
had stayed
Look at the
mess we`re already in
Everybody
wants to be the boss now
When the
boss was still here everyone knew his place.
Whatever is
the case, who can run this place like Mr. Douglas?
Nobody! Aboslolutely
nobody!
Yet none of
them seems to know that
What a pity!
