SO WHAT HAPPENS TO THE
FON OF MBU (BAFORCHU)?
Sometime ago,
Tomfon Patrick Fombe, an elite of Mbu (Baforchu) made available to the public
including online, a number of correspondences to the effect that the Fon of Mbu
(Baforchu) Mokorokah III was mismanaging the village.
In his
covering note, Tomfon said: “Dear brothers and sisters, it is sad but we
thought we should inform you. We pray someone to provide the magic wand. Love.
Tomfon Fombe Patrick.”
Four months
have passed, yet I have not heard another word about the issue. Has anyone
heard? What is Tomfon Fombe Patrick thinkingnow? The President General of MBUDCA (The Mbu-Baforchu
Cultural and Development Association) Tomfon Aaron Mancho reacted online by
saying he would take time and digest the documents (my own words) before
responding. I could gather from his tone that he had not been involved in the
saga from the beginning. I wonder why before taking the matter to the public
square, it was not handed to MBUDCA to examine. Failing that, one of the other
Fon`s in the Baforchu family (Ngyen Mbo, Santa Mbei, Baforkum, Njah or Baba II) could have been solicited. The
village is well organized and structured. What steps do custom and tradition
recommend in such circumstances? Were they taken? In other words, has anyone
found the “magic wand”? What did Tomfon Fombe Patrick envisage in the event of
no one coming up with the magic wand?
So, what is
the latest development? Has a way forward been found? Did Tomfon Fombe Patrick
envisage a “Plan B”? If so, what was it? By exposing the issue to the public,
was the Fon expected to respond as if this was a tribunal? If he had to, who
should he address himself to?
Perhaps
Tomfon Fombe Patrick should give us an update.
