WARNING FROM ABOVE
(Dedicated to my late Uncle, Pa Vincent Ndangoh Tayong)
If you don`t believe me
Then jump through the bloody window!
The overhead sky will turn red
There are many of them here in Bamenda
I have, Tatsa has, Ngochi has, Longla has
And others have.
Just do it
And out of the flame
Will a voice break the silence, saying
“I have seen this before
Even when Michael hasn`t taken the 20 tonne vehicle to Douala
And for God`s sake, remember what I did
Don`t let me repeat myself
I don`t like it!”

FOOTNOTE
This poem ends with the expression, “I don`t like it!” This was the expression my uncle used one day when he was angry with me. I had just passed my GCE ordinary Levels and was granted admission at CCAST Bambili. He was to take me to the Court and other places for me to prepare official documents for admission. At the time he was ready, he could not find me. So, irritated he got into his vehicle and started searching. Finally, he found me at the house of my elder sister, Ma Martina. He shouted at me and asked me what I was doing there.
I said: “I am doing some work Ma Martina gave me to do.” But that was a lie because I just came for an unplanned visit. That infuriated him the more:
“Work Ma Martina gave you to do? Are you an employee of Ma Martina`s? Pass and let`s go, with your big head!” Then he added: “I don`t like it!”
