THE FLYING EAGLE

Preamble: Recently, my daghter, Azi Azonga, changed her Facebook profile picture. She chose that of an eagle in flight. When I asked her whether that was “the flying eagle”, she said it was. I then promised her a poem on the flying eagle. Here it is.

A FLYING EAGLE FOR MY DAUGHTER

1.   Why you chose it

It was not a fortuitous choice

You had your reasons

And solid ones too

Your favourite bird

A very powerful bird

A bird that sees ahead

One that doesn`t associate with others

So an independent bird

A bird that to you

Represents growth

Rebirth

Strength

And always overcomes things.

2.   The eagle as I see it

I know the eagle to be universal

It swallows dichotomies

Protection

Courage

Wisdom,

Healing

Illumination

Knowledge

Wisdom

Truth.

3.    What it looks like

The eagle is spiritual

It vibrates on a higher wavelength

It coordinates the overall patterns

It connects us to the higher being

It symbolizes the Holy Spirit

It can fly from the higher nature

The macrocosm

To the lower nature

Microcosm

And vice versa

It symbolizes the moon

The sun

And the stars.

4.    What it does

Yours is not just an eagle

But the flying eagle

A bird in motion

A moving bird

A bird in action

Not one standing still

Nor even one retrogressing

It is the powerful force that

Rises above the earth

And soars into God`s universe

It transcends the physical and the literal

A mystic intuition in every sense

Your flying eagle

Penetrates the spiritual

And our consciousness

It communicates with the soul

The power house of God`s perfect creation.

5.   What it is

It is a divine spirit

It is the divine truth of the word

It is an emissary of God`s

It is a symbol of life everlasting

It is an unmistakable scepter of power

It is the insignia of the Roman Emperors

It is the torch light of young lovers

It is the certificate of initiation tests

It is the very spirit of tenacity

It is the balance between Heaven and Earth

Between God and man

It is the catalyst for freedom of expression.

6.   What it stands for

The eagle stands for bravery

Friendship

Companionship

Honour

Respect

Fidelity

Sacrifice

Unity

Grace

Beauty

Majesty

Supreme consciousness

Unbounded awareness

The creator.

7.   What it can make us do

The eagle can make us

Fly to highest heights

Become teachers

Walk with the spirit

Rest on his crown

Do the eagle dance

Grow our own wings

Remember Mother Earth

Soar on wings like eagles

Walk and not feel tired

Run and not faint

Thirst and not feel it

Hunger and not feel it

Become infinite

Become infinity.

The two have a lot in common

They are masculine

Daring

Risk taking

Optimistic

Straightforward

Fearless

Energetic

Enthusiastic

Independent

Overt

Blunt

Unpretentious

Yet honest

Quick to forgive
