A parliamentarian
in Boyo Division has declared to his constituents that the Division will be
transformed into “a new heaven”.
The Member
of Parliament who is Evaristus Njong with a constituency covering Fundong,
Njinikom and Bum, made the declaration in Fundong – headquarters of Boyo
Division - as he made a donation of 500 000 FRS. CFA towards projects in the
constituency. The money is to be used for projects such as the refurbishment of
schools and the provision of potable water.
Hon. Njong
lambasted the 8000 000 FRS. Given to parliamentarians to help in developing
their localities as being too small to make any meaningful impact. The Post quotes him saying: “ Let
government scrap off the FCFA 8 million
micro-projects and pump in more money for meaningful projects in
Councils”. The National Assembly member regretted that the inadequacy of the amount embarrassed
parliamentarians who were unable to top it up to reach a level for meaningful
investment in their communities as intended. As a result, “they (the
parliamemntarians) disappear and never return to the people because they have
no private money to add to government input”.
However, the
politician told his audience that because the motto of his party (the SDF) is `Democracy,
Justice and Development`, “Fundong and the rest of the communities in Boyo
Division will rise from the present state to a new heaven.”
