SHOULD THE SDF PARTY
JOIN A CPDM GOVERNMENT? (Part 1 of 2)

One of the
most commented topics in Cameroon today is the likely reshuffling of cabinet
ministers by President Paul Biya. This expectation stems from the observation
that usually after a major election, the President of the Republic shuffles the
pack and in this way, gets rid of the dead wood, rewards those who have been
hard working and injects new blood into the team.
Even so, he
did not reshuffle following the presidential election of 2011 during which he
was given a new mandate for another seven years. While his supporters
celebrated, his opponents were bitter that if the president serves the new term
to the end, he will be aged 85 which according to them is too advanced for a country`s
leader. After the municipal and legislative
elections of last year, the president still did not shuffle his cabinet. For
those reasons, one can conclude that a cabinet reshuffle is imminent.
So,
consultations must be taking place now between Paul Biya`s ruling CPDM party
and the other parties, including the opposition ones at present in the
government. Eyes are on the opposition UNDP leader Bello Bouba who has been in
government for about a decade now. The problem with Bello is . . .
