Cameroon has
been awarded the Medal of Grand Officer of Community Order (CODEPA). This was
in recognition of the country`s development and promotion of the handicrafts
sector.
The award
was handed to Cameroon`s Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and
Handicrafts, Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa in Niamey, capital of Niger Republic.
CODEPA was set up in 1992 and accommodated in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina
Faso. Its mission includes the fight against poverty, the fostering of
development and the creation of jobs.
Actions so
far taken by the country in that area include elaborating a law regulating the
sector, building handicraft villages in the nation`s regions and successfully holding
a handicrafts trade fair.
