I have just
read an interesting piece of information posted on the camnet yahoogroup
discussion forum by Martin Tumasang. The post states: “Governor of Far North Region
in Cameroon transferred immediately to Bafoussam after confirming the killing
of 60 Boko Haram insurgents in Cameroun.”
My response
is: Was that the reason for the transfer? If it is, who gave the reason? The
truth is that although it is true that the Governor of the Far North Region,
Fonka Awa Augustine, has been transferred to the West Region with headquarters
in Bafoussam, what has happened is that he has simply swapped places with Governor
Midjiyawa Bakary who now replaces Awa Fonka Augustine in the Far North Region.
That is not
all because other governors have also been moved around, with one retired. The
Governor of the North Region, Joseph Otto Wilson moves to Yaounde in the Centre
Region where he replaces Eyene Nlom Moise, the one who has gone on retirement. Otto
Wilson`s place in Garoua is taken by Jean Abate Edi’i who until the appointment
was Senior Divisional Officer of Sanaga Maritime Division in the Littoral
Region. So the transfer of the Governor of the Far North Region it is not an
isolated case.
That brings
to four the total number of regions which change governors. The other six regions
by implication maintain their governors.
