THE POWER CUTS IN BUEA
Like many
other places in the country, Buea has been plagued by water shortages and power
cuts. However, the hope was rife that with the coming to town of the Head of
State and President of the Republic, those trends would be reversed.
However,
today, the second day of his visit to Buea, I noticed that expectations may in
the end be wide of the mark. I was at a cyber working with other cyber users,
when suddenly lights went out (yet again!). Although they came back on shortly
after, there is no gainsaying that the damage had been done. One had to start
ones work from scratch.
I wondered
to myself: if this happens when the President is still in town then what will
happen when he leaves?That means out hopes of seeing him using his visit to
restore light and water would be dashed. However, we are hopeful.
